A Karácsony hete (az 51. hét) - The week of Christmas (Week 51.)

Karácsony előtt az emberek járják a boltokat, ide-oda futnak, a sütőben jó illatú sütemények sülnek, a fa az erkélyen várja, hogy a tartóba faragják, a díszek lekerülnek a szekrény tetejéről... Ez a karácsonyi készülődés egy átlagos családban. Ha valaki arra adja a fejét, hogy állatvédő lesz, ráadásul esetlegesen koordinálni is szeretne egy kisebb vagy nagyobb egységet, biztos lehet benne, hogy a várakozás időszaka nem ilyen idilli, ráérősen nyugalmas.

Before Christmas people are going into shops, running about while nice smelling cookies are being baked in the owen and the pure pine tree is waiting at the balcony to be carved into its holder to become the Christmas tree. Even the Christmas decoration moves away from the top of the cupboard. This is how you describe Christmas preparation in an average family. But if someone decides to become an animal rescuer, moreover tries to co-ordinate a smaller or bigger group, he/she can be sure that this season is not this idyllic or unhurridly restful.

Hogy miért mondom ezt? Tapasztalat. Mert mindig történik valami, ez a hét sem lehet kivétel. S mert ez az a hobbi, amit nem lehet félretenni, nincs olyan, hogy most nincs kedvem hozzá. Itt az ember életekért felel. Ha karácsony van, ha csak egy sima hétköznap. Az idei ünnep szerencsére viszonylag békésen telt, balesetes, azonnali esetről nem is kaptunk bejelentést.

Why do I say so? One word: experience. As there is always something going on so this week cannot just be an exception. This is a hobby that cannot be put aside, there is no "I am not in the mood"... You are responsible for living animals, it does not matter if it is Christmas or just a normal weekday. But this Christmas was quite peaceful however, there was no dog reported hit by a car or injured in any other way.

A hét legjobb híre, hogy hosszú-hosszú idő után végre gazdához költözött Tézis, a rövid szőrű tacskó kanunk. Nem volt rá érdemben egyetlen érdeklődő sem, pedig igazán jó kutya. Mostani családja sem őt szemelte ki, de elfogadták az ajánlatom, és azt hiszem, hogy egy percig sem bánták meg, hogy rám hallgattak. Lucának szeretném megköszönni, hogy Tézis egy rövid időt nála tölthetett, mint ideiglenes védenc, és hogy bonyolította a gazdához adását egészen a bevásárló lista összeállításától a tényleges kivitelezésig. Hatalmas segítség volt ez a fajtamentésnek!

The best news of the week is that after a long-long time in our care Thesis, the short-haired dachshund male moved to his final home. Noone really wanted to adopt him no matter how good dog he was actually. His final family did not call for him either but they took my offer and I guess that they did not regret it. I would like to say thanks to Luca for being Thesis' temporary mum and organised his moving away from preparing a shopping list for the new family till the transportation of the dog to his new home. This was of great help!

Pempő sem sokáig volt kennelben, mert Zsu közbenjárására ideiglenes befogadóhoz költözhetett Százhalombattára, ahol tanulgatja a szobatisztaság rejtelmeit, illetve élvezi - életében először - a lakás melegét. Az is kiderült róla, hogy nem antiszociális kutyákkal, csak nem jól fejezi ki magát, nagyon is játékos, ugrabugra, szertelen. De hát mitől is lenne másmilyen, hiszen eddig csak egy lánc végéről ismerte az életet. Vagyis ha pontos akarok lenni: az ő élete csak most kezdődött. A nagy jólét egyetlen hátulütője, hogy tüzelni kezdett, így az ivartalanításával egy picit várnunk kell.

Pempő did not have to stay long in the kennel as with the help of Zsu she could move to a temporary family in Százhalombatta where she can learn the mistery of being housebroken and enjoys the warmth of the flat. It turned out that she is not antisocial with other dogs but her communication is not proper but she likes playing with them. She knew life from the end of the chain, now things have changed a lot. Her life has just started. The only disadvantage of all the good things that happened to her that she started to heat so her castration is also postponed.

Tipli babát is átmozgattuk, Krisztáéktól egy másik ideiglenes befogadóhoz költözött. Nagyon ügyesen vette az akadályokat, remélem, hogy minden zökkenőmentesen alakul majd a továbbiakban is. Szép lassan össze kell szednie magát, hiszen annyira kis csonti, hogy gyakorlatilag nincs is súlya. De ettől még nagyon édes!

Tipli moved to a new temporary family from Kriszta's house. He was quite okay in the new situation and I do hope that everything will be just fine even after. He has to gain weight slowly as he is so bony that you cannot feel his weight. But he is still very sweet.

Tessa/Fruzsi átesett az ivartalanításon, ami ugyan szervezéstechnikailag nem sikerült úgy, ahogy ideiglenes befogadóinak ígértük, és némi vérzés miatt megjárták a Lehel úti Állatkórházat is, de azért végül minden jó, ha a vége jó. Szeretném ezúton és itt is megköszönni Dr. Hargitay András állatorvos úrnak az önzetlen és lelkiismeretes segítséget, Tessa/Fruzsi befogadóinak pedig, hogy hozták-vitték, vigyázták a kutyalányt. Innentől már tényleg csak jó dolgok történhetnek vele.

Tessa/Fruzsi was castrated but this operation was not perfect from the organisational point of view so it took more time than we promised to her temporary owners. Due to some minor bleeding they had to take her to a non stop VET hospital in Lehel Street. We would like to say thank you to András Hargitay who helped her magnanimously and of course to her temporary family who transported, supported her during the day and the night after. From now on only good things can happen to her.

Lett egy új kutyánk is. Palástot az esztergomi gyepmesteri telepről vettük gondozásunkba. Szeretném kiemelni, hogy erre valószínűleg nem kerülhetett volna sor, ha a Retriever Rescue vezetője, Fruzsi nincs ott helyben és nem intézi Palást úr szabadulását. Nekünk gyakorlatilag annyit kellett tennünk, hogy tőle átvettük az ebet. Az esti állatorvosi áttekintés során "surranó szívhangot" azonosítottak, így Palást számára szervezhetjük is a szívultrahangot Vrabély doktor úrnál, hogy megtudjuk, mire számíthatunk az ő esetében. A kis mázlista ideiglenes befogadóhoz költözhetett, ahol első lépésként azt tanulja, hogy miként kell normálisan viselkedni a macskákkal.

We also have a new dog. Palást was rescued from the dog pound of Esztergom. I must underline that this could have not happen if there wasn't Fruzsi, the head of Retriever Rescue who organised the rescue of this dog. She went to pick him up so we could only drive at her to transport him to his temporary family. There was a sleeking sound at his heart so we need to go to Mr. Vrabely for a heart ultrasound examination. This will define how we can proceed. But in between he is learning to accept cats at his temporary family.
