Eszkuláp egy éve él velünk - Esky has been with us for a year
A year is quite a long time but it has passed so very quickly that if I did not have to re-vaccinate him, I would have even noticed it. But as I am an owner who obeys the law, the expiry date of his vaccination against rabies also reminded me of the fact that he had got his first vaccination right before he moved into our home. Temporarily. It was one year ago! It is unbelievable.
A year... Noone promised us not even its half when we decided to keep him alive. We did not put him to sleep and it was the best decision we could make. I have never had the chance to know a dog with such vitality. Nothing is a problem to him, everything can be spanned, solved, eaten or if there is no other solution it still can be beaten, but nothing is sad in his life. He does not care about his being paralysed, he uses what is left for him and his brain and heart help him in this. If I ever had to survive such a thing, I would like to be able to handle things like he does.
Eszky cannot feel anything from his scapula down on. He cannot control defecation, whereever he goes, "balls" can be left behind. We have developed our routine in handling, disinfecting etc. We need to keep a close eye on what he eats in order to prevent diarrhoea as it is a catasrophe. Emptying urine is also not up to him but to us. We press it out mechanically several times a day. He hates it as he finds it very dehumiliating. We are lucky as Eszky only had to take antibiotics once due to bacteria collected in his bladder. We have not managed to "ruin" his bladder either - this is one of my major fears as I still consider us a bit clumsy in this field.
So many things happened within a year. We spent our holidays together, we had good days and bad ones, too, we walked a lot and built a very close relationship. The dog who did not accept any human as a friend before loves us with his full heart.
Eszky is a clown. A stiff "countryside" doxie. A devil and an angel in one. When he arrived I did not know that I should have been grateful. Now that a whole year has passed I know it exactly. We would be much less without him.
Remélem, hogy még hosszú időn keresztül lesz lehetőségünk szeretni őt.
I hope that we can love him for a long time.
Ilyen volt az "álgazdikereső" videója, sok-sok élménnyel fűszerezve, még így is érdemes megnézni.
This was his "fake" video for attracting owner-to-bes but it is still worth being watched as there are many activities you cannot even imagine a paralysed dog can do.
